The Niebieska Karta UE is a residence permit and work authorisation for highly qualified specialists from outside the EU. 13,355.34 PLN gross per month — that's 150% of the average wage in the national economy for 2025 (the threshold is updated each February based on GUS data). Important: only the base salary (wynagrodzenie zasadnicze) in PLN counts toward the threshold — bonuses, premiums, and allowances aren't included. If the salary in the contract is below the threshold, the voivode is obliged to refuse.
No. Either higher education, or at least 5 years of professional experience at a level comparable to higher education, is enough. For IT specialists there's a relaxation: 3 years of experience gained within the last 7 years before filing is sufficient.
Yes, but with conditions. In the first 2 years of stay, changing employer, position, or lowering the salary requires amending the permit (through the voivode). After 2 years — it's enough to notify the voivode in writing within 15 working days. That's noticeably more flexible than a standard work permit.
EU mobility after 12 months (you can move to another EU country via a simplified procedure), a fast track to EU long-term residency (after 33 months, or 21 months with Polish at B1 level), the spouse's right to work without a separate permit, the ability to be absent from the EU for up to 12 consecutive months without losing status, and the right to run a JDG as a supplementary source of income.
